Our Winter Services

Yes! We work in the winter! Winter is the perfect time for professional tree trimming and removal. While it may seem unconventional to tackle tree care during the winter months, the season presents distinct advantages for these essential winter tree services, such as reduced risk, enhanced visibility, and opportunities for preventative maintenance and pest control.

Arborist Accreditations

ISA Certification

In order to obtain and keep an ISA Certified Arborist certification, the following needs to be done:

  • Be Eligible: Eligibility requires a minimum of three years of full-time, eligible, practical work experience in arboriculture, OR a degree from a regionally accredited institute in arboriculture, horticulture, landscape architecture, or forestry.
  • Pass the Exam: The 200-question exam covers a wide array of topics, ensuring flexibility in the arboricultural profession.
  • Maintain the Certification: After passing the exam, they need to maintain the certification by earning Continuing Education Units (CEUs) within three years and paying a recertification fee, OR  retake and successfully pass the exam.

Pesticide Application Certification & Licensing

Any business or individual looking for pesticide application certification and licensing through the DATCP (Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection) must do the following:

  • Pass the Exam: Applicants can take a free paper exam or an online exam testing their knowledge on one or more of twenty categories. Arborists typically require certification 3.0 for turf & landscape, but could have certifications for more. Passing the exam gains 5 years of certification.
  • Get a License: Once certified, applicators MUST have a license to apply pesticides, issued through the DATCP. Licenses are only valid for a year.

Pesticide Acquisition

The Bureau of Agrichemical Management regulates manufacturing, sale, and use of pesticides in Wisconsin.

The bureau certifies pesticide applicators after they pass examinations, which then makes them eligible for licensing. The bureau also licenses businesses and registers pesticide products.

Pesticides include any substance labeled for controlling pests, including:

  • Herbicides
  • Insecticides
  • Fungicides
  • Rodenticides

The Bureau also operates the Landscape Pesticide Notification Registry; administers agrichemical storage and spill laws; and enforces the Worker Protection Standard and other pesticide, feed, and fertilizer laws.
