New Berlin is a tidy place on the map: it forms a neat six-by-six-mile square in the southeast corner of Waukesha County, covering about 36.9 square miles. Settlers began arriving in 1836, the town was founded on January 13, 1840, and it became a city in 1959. It was named by an early settler named Evans after his hometown of New Berlin, New York.
The community has grown from 1,293 residents in 1850 to 40,451 in the 2020 census. Much of that growth came in the 1960s and 1970s, after development of the New Berlin Industrial Park began in 1964. Today the industrial park covers 1,126 acres across three separate business parks.
New Berlin maintains 26 parks totaling roughly 855 acres, from the playing fields at Malone Park near City Hall to the disc golf course at Valley View Park and the 187-acre New Berlin Hills Golf Course. The city also straddles the sub-continental divide, and about 73 percent of its land lies west of the divide in the Fox River watershed.
All that open space and varied drainage is a good reminder of how much trees depend on soil, water, and weather. New Berlin appears on the Arbor Day Foundation Tree City USA list, with 19 years of recognition as of the 2020 list, and careful private tree care helps keep the canopy healthy.

A large, healthy tree can add shade and value to a New Berlin home, but even healthy trees can become risky after storms, drought, or years of unchecked growth. Our ISA Certified Arborists look at the whole tree, including roots, trunk, and canopy, before recommending trimming, treatment, or removal.
Watch for deadwood in the canopy, cracks in the trunk, mushrooms at the base, or branches hanging over the roof. A tree health risk assessment gives you a clear, informed answer.
The Wisconsin DNR says the greatest risk of oak wilt transmission is in spring and early summer, April through July. Where possible, schedule oak pruning outside that window, and if an oak must be pruned then, wound sealer should be applied right after the cut.
Yes. Our crews can climb hard-to-reach trees, and our lightweight, self-propelled stump grinders are designed to get into harder-to-reach areas of a yard.
We chip the brush and haul away the wood. If you want the stump gone too, stump grinding is available.
Valley View Park packs a lot into its 75 acres: a beginner-to-intermediate disc golf course winding through the woods, an archery range, hiking and skiing trails, and even a soap box derby track. Malone Park, near City Hall, adds playing fields and open space.
From the Moorland Road area to the neighborhoods near Malone Park and City Hall, we cover all of New Berlin and neighboring communities such as Brookfield, Waukesha, and Muskego.
